Hobak Dilano

Hobak Dilano belongs to the hour when the river darkens, and everything that seemed certain on its surface returns to mystery.

What the River Keeps

Along the Nile, Sobek bore the face of a creature men feared, yet belonged to waters upon which their lives depended. Beneath the reeds, danger and nourishment moved with the same current. Perhaps the ancients understood something we have forgotten: not everything tender arrives without teeth.

There is an imagined solitude in the crocodile waiting at the bank. Nothing in its stillness asks to be completed. The sun is enough. The water is enough. It carries its existence without witness, as though belonging begins somewhere deeper than being wanted.

We sometimes become fortresses after being wounded, mistaking the silence within for peace. But even stone remembers rain. Even the guarded shore receives the returning water. Somewhere between surrender and refusal, there is another way of remaining.

Hobak Dilano rests at that threshold. Not the abandoning of strength, but its quiet transformation: the jaw that need not close, the bank that lets a root take hold.
