Toutras Taou

Toutras Taou follows the turtle across ground, carrying something the road can neither give nor take away.

The Home Beneath Our Names

We speak of home as though it waits somewhere: behind a door, beside a familiar voice, in a country we once knew. Yet the turtle moves, and its shelter moves with it. There is no departure from what belongs to its being.

Perhaps we carry something similar. A mother's patience becomes the way we listen. A friend's laughter survives in our laughter. Someone who once held us remains in the gentleness of our hands, long after those hands have parted.

The shell is not a room the turtle enters. It grows with the life within. So too, love gathers beneath our names: not a possession, not a visitor, but the substance through which we meet the world. Even our searching has its tenderness. Beneath ambition, beneath the wish to be remembered, there is often a longing: somewhere to offer the warmth we have kept alive.

Toutras Taou holds that wandering belonging. A vessel for roots, beside the lives we keep tending. On a windowsill, a leaf unfolds; nothing announces how much this attention means.
