The Vaghard Billa is a sculptural vase born from the river — from the ancient Egyptian understanding that some creatures do not merely survive the current, but become it. It does not rest quietly in a room. It anchors one.
Taweret of Love
In ancient Egypt, the hippopotamus was not feared — it was revered. Taweret, the great hippo goddess, stood at the threshold of birth and death, her massive form a shield against all that would harm the vulnerable.
She was not gentle in the way of softness. She was gentle in the way of mountains — immovable, certain, and completely without doubt.
The Egyptians understood something we have forgotten: that the most ferocious love is also the most courageous. To love with the full weight of your being — to plant yourself between the one you love and everything that threatens them — is not tenderness. It is an act of war against despair.
