Roxhin Xerzes

Roxhin Xerzes imagines a lion lifting into the morning, its wings broad enough for flight, its strength quiet enough to shelter something tender.

A Heart Needs Passage

At the edge of a city, a winged lion keeps watch. Below it, doors open, lovers part for the day, and someone gathers the courage to return. The guardian does not prevent departure. Its wings make departure possible.

There are people who have loved us this way. They listened without turning our sadness into a problem to solve. They stood nearby while we learned the shape of our courage. In their presence, even uncertainty had somewhere to rest. Perhaps protection is not the closing of a circle, but the keeping of an opening.

We cannot cherish joy while forbidding what might wound us. The sky receives our trembling and our flight. Somewhere beneath the lion's breast, fierceness becomes patience: the strength to let another life unfold without asking it to remain unchanged.

Roxhin Xerzes holds this guardianship beside the beginnings of a room. A cutting takes root. A message arrives. We notice ourselves humming again. Nothing erases what came before; something makes room beside it.
